Frequently Asked Graduation Questions

A graduation petition is a form that you must fill out with an academic counselor. This form verifies that you have met all the requirements for an Associate's degree. 

After this form is completed, the counselor will assist you in submitting the form.

Once the form is processed, YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY TO GRADUATION!

Yes! 

In addition to submitting your graduation petition, it is essential that you also complete the RSVP form for the graduation ceremony. This step is crucial for several reasons:

  1. Confirming Your Participation: Your RSVP ensures your participation in the ceremony is accounted for.
  2. Receiving Essential Graduation Information: By submitting your RSVP, you will receive all the necessary information leading up to the event, including details about the ceremony itself and information for your guests.
  3. Graduation Pictures and Additional Details: The information collected, through the RSVP process, helps us provide you with information regarding graduation pictures, accommodations, cap/gown purchases, and any other updates.

RSVP Form

Purchase in-person or online at the Seahawk Shop (Bookstore). Visit their website for their business hours of operation. 

Note: Cap and Gowns will arrive and be on sale the beginning of April 2025.

If you are unable to purchase a cap and gown due to financial hardships, please visit the Student Activities Office in the Student Union, 2nd floor. 

Donate it!

Help a fellow Seahawk by donating your cap and gown AFTER the graduation ceremony.  Boxes will be located outside of the stadium. Thank you for your consideration.  All of us at Los Angeles Harbor College and LACCD wish you much success.

Graduation Rehearsal will take place on Monday, June 9 at 12:00 pm to 01:30 pm in the gymnasium.

Not Mandatory but highly encouraged! This is where you will see where you will be sitting during the ceremony.


Campus Directions and Map

Tickets are not required!

Guests, family, and friends are welcome to attend. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. We ask that you limit your guest list to 4 - 6 guests. 

Please inform your guests of the following:

  • Guest with balloons will be asked to return them to their vehicles.
  • Please do not bring noise makers, poppers, umbrellas, and confetti. They are great to celebrate but can be a hazard to some of our guests. Thank you for your cooperation.
  • Saving of seats will not be permitted.
  • Taking pictures in the aisles or in front of the stage will not be permitted.

We understand this is a BIG day for you and your family.  We ask that you limit your guest list to 4-6.  We roughly have about 700 participants. Thank you for your understanding.

Guest will be sitting in the Stadium bleachers. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

On Graduation Day, we will start in the gym. After taking your Class of 2025 group photo, we will line up and prepare to leave the gym.

During rehearsal, you will see where you will be seated—this way, you can let your loved ones know where to sit for the best view of you on your special day.

  • If you line up on the right (WEST), you will be seated on the NORTH side. Your guests should sit in the NORTH side stands.
  • If you line up on the left (EAST), you will be seated on the SOUTH side. Your guests should sit in the SOUTH side stands.

You will be walking on artificial grass. High heels are NOT permitted!

Free parking is available on Lots 6, 7, 8, and West Parking Structure. Please do not park in Staff Parking which is Lots 9, 9A, and 10. Handicap Parking can be found on Lot 5.

Due to Fire Safety Regulations, strollers will not be allowed in the general audience seating. We apologize for the inconvenience. 

Professional photographers from Grad Images will be taking your picture as you enter and walk across the stage to receive your diploma. Make sure to follow the instructions below to ensure your special moment is captured and memorialized for perpetuity:

  • Start at the Check-in table where you will receive your name card.
  • Fill our both sides of the card.
  • Hand your card to the Grad Images to the announcer as you walk on stage.
  • The backside of the card has the phonetic spelling of your name, which will be used to announce your name.
  • Grad Images will then use the name card information to communicate with you directly. Make sure to fill in your complete information. PRINT CLEARLY, so that your name and address can be read easily.

Yes, our bookstore will have refreshments, snacks, and Harbor swag for sale.

  • Iron your gown to take out the wrinkles from the packaging
  • Practice putting on the white-collar. It is not an easy thing to do by yourself.
  • Wear sunscreen and dress for the warm weather.
  • Graduation is not a day to break in new shoes. Please wear comfortable shoes with a flat, solid, thick, or wedge heel.
    • NOTE: For your safety and to protect our astroturf, high heels are not permitted. The heels can sink into the turf, which may cause injury and damage the surface.
  • Please limit what you bring, as there is no designated area to store personal items.
  • Provide your guests with the map (copies available on the rehearsal table).
  • There are no strollers, umbrellas, or balloons allowed in the stadium.

COVID Safety Protocols

  • If you, or your guests, should have symptoms or are currently in isolation/quarantine period due to recent infection or exposure, for your safety and the safety of others, you cannot attend.
  • Since our event is outside, masks are not required but are strongly recommended.
  • Please note that protocols are subject to change. Information on protocol updates will be communicated to graduates/candidates to share with guests by email or another appropriate mechanism.
