The LAHC Student Health Center provides services to CURRENT STUDENTS ONLY!
TB tests provided to students/staff and non-students.

Basic Medical Care
The LAHC Student Health Center is directed by a fully licensed and certified Family Nurse practitioner who is dedicated to the college community. Our Nurse Practitioner is available on Thursday's from 9:00am - 1:00pm. Our basic services include treaββtment of common medical problems, wound care, first aid, preventive care, health and psychiatric counseling, and laboratory services. You may receive general care by walking in or making an appointment. Some basic services are provided under the health fee paid at the time of registration for LAHC students. Other services such as prescription medication, lab tests, and immunizations have a fee.
Physical Exams
We provide physical exams for the following programs or events: LAHC School of Nursing, DMV, school transfers, employment, disabilities, Metro city bus pass, and sports. All physicals are done by a licensed and certified M.D. on Wednesdays from 10:00am β 12:00pm. A preliminary visit must be completed before a physical exam is scheduled.
Laboratory Services
The Student Health Center provides laboratory tests such as full blood profiles, urinalyses, throat cultures, pregnancy testing, titers, and HIV testing. All lab tests are drawn on site by the Nurse Practitioner and sent to Quest Diagnostics for analysis. There is a fee for all "send out" lab tests.

Commitment to Student Safety
At Harbor College, we are committed to student health and safety. In compliance with SB 367 (Campus Opioid Safety Act) and AB 461, we provide opioid overdose reversal medication (Naloxone/Narcan) and fentanyl test strips to help prevent drug-related emergencies. Our goal is to ensure students have access to life-saving resources and education on opioid safety.
Accessing Naloxone (Narcan) on Campus
Naloxone (commonly known as Narcan) is a medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose in an emergency. Harbor College offers free Naloxone nasal spray to students.

- No prescription is needed, and Naloxone is available at no cost.
- Students can request it confidentially - no questions asked.
- Training on how to use Naloxone is available upon request.
Fentanyl Test Strips: Know Whatβs in Your Substances
Fentanyl is a powerful opioid often found in counterfeit pills and other drugs, increasing the risk of overdose. Fentanyl test strips allow individuals to detect fentanyl in substances before use.

- Testing helps individuals make informed choices and reduce the risk of accidental overdose.
Recognizing an Opioid Overdose & Emergency Response
An opioid overdose can happen quickly. Knowing the signs and how to respond can save a life.
π¨ Signs of an Overdose:

Slow, shallow, or stopped breathing

Unresponsiveness or unconsciousness

Blue or grayish lips, fingertips, or skin
β
Pinpoint pupils
π’ What to Do in an Emergency:
- Call 911 immediately.
- Administer Naloxone (Narcan) if available.
- Stay with the person and provide support until emergency responders arrive.

The following is a list of immunizations we provide at our cost:
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- TWINRIX Hepatitis A&B
- TDAP (Tetanus & "whooping cough")
- Inactivated Influenza ("Flu" Vaccine; inactivated quadrivalent influenza vaccine)
- VARIVAX (Chicken Pox)-when available
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Mantoux TB test
- Other services can be provided by referral from the Nurse Practitioner.
