Prospective Student Information

EOPS is a state funded program designed to recruit and retain low-income students who are educationally disadvantaged. The program provides services over and above and in addition to those offered by financial aid, tutoring, counseling, and other college Student Services programs.

EOPS Eligibility Checklist

  • Must be enrolled in at least 12 units (3 units for summer) or provide a letter from Special Programs and Services if fewer units are to be taken
  • Must have completed a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or Dream Act Application and/or at minimum complete an application and qualify for a California College Promise Grant (type A or B)
  • Can not have completed more than 70 degree-applicable college units

Household and Total Family Income

To qualify for EOPS, a student must demonstrate an economic disadvantage by filing either a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or a California College Promise Grant through the Financial Aid Office, and fall within the following income guidelines:

Educational Disadvantage

Also, to qualify for EOPS student must demonstrate one of the following educational disadvantages:

  • having been enrolled or placed in a remedial English and/or math course, or having enrolled in a transfer level English and/or math course with concurrent enrollment in a support course, or
  • having not graduated from high school nor earned a GED, or
  • being a high school graduate with a cumulative high school grade point average less than 2.5, or
  • having taken remedial classes previously, or
  • being a first generation college student, or
  • coming from a household where English was not the primary language spoken in the home, or
  • being a member of an ethnic group that is under-served on the Harbor College campus according to Student Equity goals, or
  • being an emancipated foster youth.

Unit Enrollment

EOPS students must be enrolled in 9 or more units for Fall/Spring; 3 or more units for summer, unless qualified to receive a unit waiver from Special Programs and Services, have not completed more than 70 degree applicable units cumulative, and be a resident of California. Unofficial transcripts must be submitted with application.
 

CARE & NextUp Eligibility


CARE Program Eligibility

If you are a single parent of a child 18 years of age or younger and are receiving CalWORKs/TANF benefits, you may be eligible for the CARE Program.
